  7. Is there a HHGGTTG, Secundus, or something like that?

    Comment by jerryprism — put July 6, 2005 @ 12:11 am

  8. Yes, Secondary Phase. It’s episodes 7-12 of the original series.

    Original Series:
    Primary Phase - Fits 1-6
    Secondary Phase - Fits 7-12

    New Series:
    Tertiary Phase - Fits 13 - 18
    Quandary Phase - Fits 19 - 22
    Quintessential Phase - Fits 23 - 26

The Quandary and Quintessential Phases will be on GPod shortly.

  9. Is it possible to download the new series from some website, or should I try my best in P2P applications?

    Comment by Catmoon — put July 6, 2005 @ 2:40 am

  10. The last two phases will be here on GPod sometime later this week. They can also easily be found on most P2P networks.

  12. Thanks for your reply about the Secondary Phase, and thanks for putting on the Fourth and Fifth phases. As a long time HH, I’ve always enjoyed the series in all its formats, audio, video, and text. Especially the BBC audio & video, absolutely priceless. Just for that, you deserve a contribution to this site. Is it tax deductible, no matter.

  21. Mega - been searching for ages for these!!

Listened to the originals in 78/79 but on scratchy BBC Long wave radio and although I had audio tapes never got the good recordings from VHF or discs.

Anybody got the 1978 Xmas special (repeated Xmas 79) on mp3 (again I only have the long wave recording) ?

    Cheers

  28. In fact, Part 7 is the ‘Christmas Episode’, broadcast in Dec. 1978 as a lead-up to the 1980 series (a sort of teaser episode to keep the story ‘open’).

    Thanks for uploading this stuff!

I found this site thanks to Mindre Panda, and was delighted to discover that I didn’t have to find a way of converting the old audio casssettes I had, but could download the mp3 files to iTunes! The other series are very much appreciated, although I cannot get the ogg files onto my iPod - any ideas?
More importantly though, thanks for the opportunity to revisit this marvel of the wireless age, digitally!

  38. Dr. Grey,

I with the rest of the group… THANK YOU, THANK YOU THANK YOU. My first exposure to the guide was in 78/79 from the original BBC broadcasts. My nine year old son is now reading the guide for a book report and I wanted him to hear and experience what I did when I first heard the guide 20+ years ago.

Thanks for making this possible. Warmest regards, Craig

  46. I keep reading about a lost 13th episode entitled “Sheila’s Ear”. Does it actually exist? And if so, is it possible to get copy.

Also, is there a place to download the recordings that Hannibal Records did of Hitchhiker’s - including the revised version of the Restaurant at the End of the Universe with Disaster Area?

  52. Thank you a bunch! After I saw the movie and read the book, I wanted to find the radio series also to hear what it originally had been like. (I’m only 14 you know…I didn’t know about it until the newer movie came out in theaters. My mom had told me some about it, but she had forgotten the name of the book so I couldn’t find it.) Of course, I have a 56k modem, so it takes almost 2 hours to download half an hour of MP3…ohh well I guess. They’re worth it.

  56. I am so delighted to find this. I heard this in college in 1982 and fell in love with them. Now my 13 year old really wants to hear them. We turned her on to radio theater last Christmas with The Shaddow set of tapes and now she wants to hear the Guide the same way. She doesn’t want to see the movie, she wants to listen to the tapes. So refreshing today.

  57. I listened to the dutch radio broadcasts in 1980 and was immediately hooked. There the story went only as far as episode 6.

Episode 12 here seems to be damaged. At least it won’t play.
I found an even better download at
