DIY or DIE

“I was also given a glimpse of what it’s like to be at Sundance when you’re not the toast of the town. Michael Dean, an old-school SF punk-turned-writer/filmmaker who moved to LA last year to give Hollywood schmoozing a whirl, checked in with his Park City story. Dean was at the festival to screen a rough cut of his documentary “D.I.Y. or Die: How to Survive as an Independent Artist” at the Lost Film Fest (one of the alternative film events that goes on the same week), and his optimistic account of illegal flyering and getting shut out from a party in the cold is a great antidote to all those paparazzi shots of Redford, Pitt and Aniston embracing as their matching highlights glint in the snowscape. (Click here for Michael Dean’s account of tireless schmoozing.)”
